Kindergarten
Welcoming our youngest learners
Starting school is a big milestone for children and families. At Gledswood Hills Public School, we make sure your child’s first year is filled with learning, fun and new friendships in a safe, caring environment.
Our Kindergarten program builds strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, fosters curiosity and helps every child feel confident and ready to learn.
“Starting school was such a big step, but Gledswood Hills Public School made it so easy. My child felt excited from day one and absolutely loves coming to school!”

A smooth transition to school
We know that starting school can be exciting and a little nerve-wracking for children and parents alike. That’s why we have a comprehensive transition to school program designed to help your child feel at home from day one.
Our program includes:
- Orientation sessions where children meet teachers, make friends and explore classrooms.
- Parent information expo to answer questions and share tips for a smooth start.
Information about Kindergarten Orientation will be provided to enrolled families. Please download the SchoolBytes parent portal app for more information.
A day in Kindergarten
Every day is filled with a balance of learning, play and creativity. A typical day might include:
- Morning welcome
- Literacy and numeracy activities
- Fruit break and outdoor play
- Creative arts, science or library lessons
- Lunch and free play
- Afternoon wellbeing, sport or playbased learning
Learning in Kindergarten
Kindergarten is where we lay the foundation for future success. We follow the NSW Early Stage 1 curriculum with engaging hands-on activities across:
- English
- Mathematics
- Creative Arts
- Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
- Science and Technology
- Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE)
We use a combination of explicit teaching, play-based learning and targeted support programs to ensure every child makes strong progress.
Wellbeing and routines
Your child’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. In Kindergarten, we:
- Support children to develop social skills, resilience and independence.
- Have clear routines that help children feel safe and settled.
- Kindergarten students enjoy different break times from primary students, giving them extra space to play and build friendships.
